Yes it's supposed to be safe. My husband takes it before bed at night 12.5 mg. He used to also take it in the AM but it was making him very tired during the day and was sleeping about 17 hours a day. It's not enough that the regular Parkinson's meds already make him tired, he doesn't need any added sleepiness. My husband does sleep a lot during the day.
