Does Anyone Have Parkinson's And Bi-Polar Disorder?
My mother has Parkinson's and Bi-Polar Disorder. She is taking 6 Sinemet a day. 2 tablets 3 times a day the 25/100. Can you take more than that? Her doctor told her to take it when she needed it, but if she takes more than 6 a day she goes into a Mania phase of her Bi-polar.
Does anyone else have this combination and what medications are helping the Parkinson's?
My husband takes 8 25-100 sinemet per day and 1 extended release 50-200 at bedtime. He's become increasingly agitated and could possibly be bipolar and he's added an antipsychotic. Still waiting for it to take effect, as it could take a week to get through the blood barrier in the brain. I think I see some improvement in his behavior.
Possibly induced by the PD itself. I know the balance between medications is very delicate and that the Quetiapine is a dopamine agonist ( and could make his motor symptoms worse) but it's possible that he had a bit of bipolar personality to begin with and the medications bring it out. Right now the Quetiapine is working, but his personality is trying hard to outpace it.
Patricia my mom will tell me. I then try to massage them out, but they are really hard and feel immovable (is that a word?) She has been officially diagnosed now with Fibromyalgia (as of yesterday) and when I touch her it hurts and the doctor said that's fibromyalgia. I'm discouraged too. The answer for Parkinson's and fibromyalgia is exercise and I can't convince mom to try it. Of course I have no idea how she feels so what kind of advice can I give her. Ugh!
my husband has been bi-polar since being diagnosed in 1975. it was pretty stable until he got kidney disease and they started changing his meds. then about 2 yrs ago he was diagnosed with PD. He tried to take his life once and was hospitalized for months. He has been home since Aug. 12. I felt the hospital was not helping him at all. I work with him every day. pushing gently, but he is doing better. He is on sinemet 25/100 3 times a day. And some anti depressant too. One day at a time.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, The past few months have seen some changes. His episodes of being impossible kept growing until I felt it was the Quetiapine CAUSING the problem and reduced it. Now he's taking only 200 mg. at bedtime and when he gets agitated we keep him calm and he gets over it naturally.
Does Anyone Have A Sudden Problem With Noise. I.e. Sirens. These Are Real Not Imaginary.
I Read “mild Parkensons”, “ Moderate Parkensons” Etc. Is There A Set Measurement?
