Míralax is recommended in excellent podcast on Michael J Fox. website: ‘Parkinson’s and your Gut’. Trulance is an excellent prescription strength medication that I use.
I am struggling with this issue, and with my meds, I can’t seem to find a balance. It’s either seriously stuffed up, or when I least expect it, an explosion like a volcano!
Good thing I live alone. But I will sort this out and arrive with the problem solved.

Laura, sadly, I don't think there is a best solution. Long term, stool softeners, lots of water, fiber, fruits and veggies and probiotics can make constipation less frequent and uncomfortable. more immediate and short term. there are over the counter and prescription meds that can help but you should talk to your doc after you try the diet changes.
I wish there is a quick and easy fix but remember, we are dealing with the illusive PD and it takes a warrior to do that.

I went to a physical therapist for gut issues and she did calculations and told me to drink lots more water. She was right--I had almost stopped drinking altogether except colas. Drinking more, It is helping a lot with unwanted urinary leakage, and I expect it to help with constipation if I can ever get to the level she advised.
