I Have Knee Buckling Pain Behind My Left Shoulder Sometimes.

A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

It is so severe It will cause me to almost kneel if standing up, or arch my back if sitting down. I am newly diagnosed 2 months ago. Level five pain out of 10. Is this the type of thing PD can cause or more likely just in the shoulder? I've only had it 4 times, all in the last two months. Episodes last 10-15 minutes max. Then I am sore for a while. I worry, 'what if it happens while driving?'

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member I have severe Dystonia and the pain you describe sounds like experiences I have had. The fact that you say you feel sore after describes what I experience. If you read about Dystonia it doesn’t mention the sharp icepick like pains in the muscles that can feel razor sharp or like burning coals but the levodopa takes these pains away all together. Stops it. Idk 🤷🏻‍♀️ if what you are experiencing is Dystonia however If you struggle with tightness, spasms or muscle tension in the same “trapezius” “coat hanger” area it is worth asking your neurologist about.

I will ask him about this. I am getting an MRI next week to rule out possible neck vertebrae issues. I can't hold my neck straight even sitting down to to pain. It feels connected to the shoulder pain just in my neck not shoulder if that makes any sense at all. It seems one can join the other for a combined larger area sometimes. Thanks Pearl3.
