Parkinson's Related Pain?
Can someone please explain this. I have chronic pain ( recently had pain pump inserted). Is the Parkinson's making my chronic pain worse? What type of pain is associated with Parkinson's? Sorry for all the questions.
I started with pain. It was and continues to be awful. I searched for answers for 7 years. It was demoralizing and discouraging. As a female, when you go to the doctor complaining of pain, you get the same response, 'you have had a few birthdays. ". Not helpful. 🤦♀️
I had different doctors and every test I could think of to figure out what the he🏑🏑 was going on. Then the falls. ER worthy, story telling gold.
Once I started the Carbadopa Levodopa it made a great deal of difference. This was the confirmation of my diagnosis.
It has been 1 year since my diagnosis, I am not as good as I was but the pain is manageable with pain management and my increasing Carbadopa Levodopa. Things might have progressed slower but I had a very serious case of covid in January and February. It has accelerated my Parkinson's. I am still able to walk, just not very far. My personality is changing and not in a good way. I still get excruciating pain....a crushing pain that feels like a concrete wall pressing down getting heavier and heavier. Not fun.
I have been blessed with a loving husband and a very supportive family and friends. That and a 'safe word' to remind me that my Parkinson's is talkin ..ABORT MISSION!!! ☺😆🤣
I manage my pain with gabapentin and THC. I sleep very well when i wake up i have no pain at all for a while. Right now i a mm going on 2 hours.
Going to be 58 and on Disability. Since 2019
mine is nueropothy in my feet. The pain is so bad i cannot walk. I thought I could work until I was 70 years old but that did not work I'm 61 and on disability.
Parkinson's disease can be associated with various types of pain. Here are some of the common types:
- Muscle Stiffness: This can cause discomfort and pain
- Dyskinesia: Involuntary muscle movements can lead to pain.
- Constipation: Can cause abdominal pain.
- Dystonia: Prolonged muscle contractions can be painful.
