Artichoke hearts, beets, figs, hearts of palm, applesauce, oatmeal, lots of water, exercise. These help my husband when he starts to get backed up. Not all at once! Try one or two in list the night before and one or two the next day and wait a day. Repeat if nothing happens. Lots of water. Figs help my husband the most. They are hard to get fresh in the US unfortunately, but dried will work also. If you eat a lot of cheese, rice, bread and meat, try cutting down a lot. Yogurt with no sugar is ideal, but any kind of yogurt on a daily basis, or really good probiotic pills also help. If nothing works, my husband took an all-natural tea once and it worked so well he works hard not to get that constipated! We keep it in the pantry for emergency constipation situations, but so far have not had to use it again! It's called Smooth Move Herbal Tea.
