I Have DBS For 18 Months. It Has Almost Completely Controlled My Tremors. However It Has Not Helped Me Walk, Talk Or Get In Or Out Of Bed.?
I had DBS in 2014 and it changed my life and work but tremor was my main problem. I was diagnosed with parky in 2008 I had a lot of problems with reactions to most of Parkinson’s drugs so was recommended to have DBS so I could work (I was a nurse and
Needed to have a steady hand for blood taking injections ect and it worked and gave me years of working as Parkinson’s progressed I eventually gave up work I was getting slower and as a senior nurse in a very busy practice I found that my work load
Was increasingly difficult to manage
DBS is only a relief for tremor but I did benefit from being able to move more freely i don’t know it was a fluke or not but I am virtually housebound I was falling a lot and needed a new knee. I had that done in Nov 2023 and I have less falls I am getting better
With my walking so I may be of walking in the Summer with my hubby
