Richard 450 Yes You may need a referral to a swallowing specialist who will evaluate what the issue may be. Do you sometimes feel as if pills or food are going down the ā€œwrong pipe?ā€Some meds can be crushed and mixed with applesauce or canned diced peaches but many cannot. Your neurologist can do a referral for a swallowing study. There are tips to help. I have had 4 endoscopy procedures where my esophagus was stretched. This avoids aspiration which can lead to pneumonia which I have had. Not to be an alarmist but aspiration pneumonia is a leading cause of death in Parkinsonā€™s patients. Please be sure to follow up.There can be
simple solutions to help but it is always better to find the cause.
