Has Anyone Heard PPFG As A Movement Disorder?
Primary progressive freezing gait
I agree KIMP, I think one day the researchers will find a common link between I these neurologic issues. I also think a cure will come when a cause is determined and it can be treated. I pray the research can be directed to finding the overlapping issues of these diseases and addressing the cause of the most common symptoms. There is a lot of time, money and energy going into PD research but the research is as elusive and scattered as symptoms associated with PD.
In the meantime, we can keep being our best selves and finding joy in each day.

Hi KIMP,
One thing that someone found useful for freezing is the use of walking sticks.

Thank you David. My neuro office just added a movement specialist to their practice. I have an appt in Nov. I hope I have an experience similar to yours.

My movement disorder specialist spent over an hour with me on my first visit not just looking at hands or balance but overall wellness. After brain scans and seeing how I responded to medication then and only then did he say yes David you do have Parkinson's disease.
For anyone who has or thinks that they may have Parkinson's I cannot overemphasize the importance of seeing a movement disorder specialist. I am very fortunate that I can contact my MDS by phone or patient portal anytime that I need. And either he or someone from his office will get back to me within a day.
I live in the Phoenix metropolitan area where there are hundreds of neurologists. But it's worth it to me to drive an hour plus to the far end of the valley to see a doctor that I can trust.

let me guess...he's a Neurologist, not a movement disorder specialist.
