Does Dopamine Make One Feel Good? It Does Nothing For Me.
Hi my friend. I am sorry that you are feeling bad. I won’t repeat some things others have said. What I do want to tell you is I know from my experience that the first symptom I feel when my symptoms arise is I begin to feel so bad. My husband can see it in my face. I feel so bad. I am not like that all the time, but it hits out of the blue. I take Dopamine in the pills called Rytary. 3 pills 3 times a day. The dopamine can help us in some ways, but we can still have other ways PD affects us that Dopamine doesn’t stop. Also, I have to take an antidepressant twice a day plus a mood stabilizer & also an anti-anxiety medication. I don’t know if you do, but if not I suggest talking to your doctor about trying that kind of meds that can help you handle all that PD can kick us with. I. Pray that you will feel better soon.
We all love you & care that you are feeling so bad.
Blessings, Grace, & Peace,
Carol ❤️
Hi @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member It does nothing for you probably because you haven't got any. Dopamine is responsible for allowing you to feel pleasure, satisfaction and motivation. When you feel good that you have achieved something, it's because you have a surge of dopamine in the brain. I read your story, I don't know if you're male / female, in your prime / golden years, single / married, in a place buzzing with life or home alone!
I think you'll find this community exists not only for answers to questions but because we care. Who you are and what your fundamental values are is more important than the pain and suffering Parkinson's brings. Read my story, it's for you. I already know it 😀😀😀
Till then😁 take care

I laughed out loud at your first sentence to “dead in bed”. Talking about Dopamine …..
You told her “It does nothing for you probably because you don’t have any”😆😆😆
I know I have a weird sense of humor, but your response was hysterical to me. I am off to bed laughing. Thanks
It’s made a huge difference for me. I feel like the dopamine was enough to fill a void. I’m much happier and more confident on it. I also take 2 antidepressants and 1 anti anxiety pill. However I was taking them before starting carbidopa/levadopa. The combination of it all has been quite wonderful. I’m enjoying it now because I’m sure it will wear off at some point. It also helps with my gait and balance issues.
We were told it only treats the symptoms. They told us the only way to really fight it is by movement and exercise. But everyone reacts to medicine differently.
