My Sister N Law Has Had Parkinson’s For 16 Yrs She Has Been Over Medicated With Carbidopa/Levodopa.
Now she has been brought down slowly to 1 pill 25/100 mg 3 times a day but is still experiencing hallucinations that are very disturbing to her. She is also experiencing a bit of freezing like an 1 hour being on a lesser dosage. We don’t know what to do. Her doctor has suggested Seriquel may help with hallucinations. What have you all experienced. We need help
My wife also has had Parkensons for 16 years and has hallucinations which she also finds very disturbing. Her specialist is now considering prescribing Clozapine for her..."Clozapine in the treatment of mental manifestations of Parkinson disease" https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/7481376/
I had hallucinations galore. I was prescribe seroquil and have not had them since.
C/l was a disaster for my husband. He was diagnosed a year ago with Parkinson's. The neurologist put him on c/l. He got orthostatic hypotension and fell almost every time he stood up. It was horrible. He had hallucinations and delusions and we could not figure out what was going on. The neurologist kept increasing the dosage. Finally, I became angry and assisted that he come off of the medication. They weaned him off for a month. The weaning was horrible. But at last he is so much better. None of the above symptoms and is feeling more like himself. Good luck!
We tried Seroquel but he ended up too sleepy and unsteady. He is now on Klonazepam 05mg generic for Klonopin Only give him half at bedtime per Dr. Still has some hallucinations but not as bad. I don't think the hallucinations will ever go away completely.
Not to tell you that they added a very tiny dose of Seroquel as they wean him off of the c/l. Moods are great, happy and stable.
