How can I do a search to find people in my geographical area?
G'day phila, if you have a computer and the ability to skype or use any of the other forms of communication that is available then broaden your search area. I live in Australia and I have a great Parkinson's suffering friend in Scotland. We both met in a online forum and in a short time we hit it off - not because of our disease but because we had pretty much the same interests in our lives away from Parkinson's. We skype most every day and when one of us is not around or has other things to do we tend to those things because we know that at a given period of time we will catch up again at our regular meeting place. Being both males and with wives and family we find we at times talk nothing but rubbish and we think we could change our world if only those in power would listen to us. We are both so very, very lucky, we share videos about our countries, our wild life and our families and yes we do at times have some serious conversations about that Disease that effects us both PARKINSON'S, but most of all we understand what one another goes through when we are having an off day and we pick one another up with encouragement to carry on. To me having a friend with the disease and with pretty much the same interests does me good. So look outside of your geographical area because sometimes if we look out side the box we are in there is more to be gained than just sittin' in side that box. I wish you all the best and hope you find what you are looking for.
Hi Phila,
In answer to your question ...... How do we locate someone in our geographical area?
Click on the 3 light grey horizontal lines in the upper left side of your screen. They are left of 'myparkinsonsteam' near the top of the screen. This will give you a drop down. Click on 'find others'. Type in what area you're looking for and you'll see those in that location.
I hope this works for you!!!!
Thanks, it worked!
You're doing a very positive thing, please keep me in the loop!
You can count on it!
