I have lost my taste and smell, as well as 70lbs since Christmas. I could give various reasons, which in my opinion, can be reasons for the weight loss, but it doesn’t really matter; the weight is gone and I am now being considered in a failure to thrive mode. I’m not clear as to whether that can be reversed, but I’m trying. Loss of taste and smell is definitely a symptom of all the parkinsonisms, and it bears watching, especially if you are fairly thin to begin with, which I am not. If you’re losing weight too fast try the protein drinks used for extra calories and nutrition; it may help you stay more stable.
Hugs,
Teresa

Yes Teresa. At 93 pounds, I need to gain some. I have always been small, but not this small. But at 84, I guess its not too bad. I do drink a protein drink I make, and also the can ones occasionally. I do eat a little breakfast, and snack during the day on apples, cheese and crackers. And, I have a bowel of ice cream several times a week, a small bowl. I hate not having a good appetite. I think I want to eat, but sometimes nothing sounds good. I still can do things. I keep a neat place, and we have a nice laundry room I use. I could have a washer and dryer in my place, but I needed the space for other things. It is good to have to take my laundry down a short ways. Keeps me on my feet. I live on the third floor, so I walk the stairs every day at least once, sometimes twice. We do have elevators, but I need the exercise. Hugs to you Teresa.

Hi Susan. I can still smell, but it doesn’t come easily. Taste is still not good but is a bit better. Have a good day.😊

Well Kumasa, the first movement doctor said it would not come back, but it did. However a few weeks ago, it was gone again. It is a bit better. So, start exercising and moving more and maybe that will help. Have a good day.
