Has Anyone With Parkinson’s Heard That Thiamine HCL Is Good For People With Parkinson’s?
I heard that it helps slow down Parkinson’s and you feel better with this vitamin.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member. Just taking the fish oil and B12 alone will not be sufficient. You need all the B vitamins together so your system does not get out of balance. That is why I have a daily multi complex vitamin and mineral capsule. But as I say, I am trialing taking the extra vitamins on top of this., but it will only be for a limited period to gage the result. I wouldn't recommend your husband doing this without some sound advice. I would get a good multi complex vitamin & mineral capsule and see how he goes on this. Take it with his morning breakfast.
It possibly may be the fish oil that could be upsetting him if he has not been used to it. What strength is the B12 you've got and is it one you can dissolve under the tongue.
Apart from the Rytary, I don't know what the names of the meds he's on and what they do. Probably they are under different names in NZ. The Neurologist will be right regarding lack of proper sleep. Initially I was only getting 2-3 hours a night, sometimes none at all (because of RLS) and it made be lousy. Let me know how the sleep apnea test goes.

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member. Hi Penny. I don't know if you saw my posting of about 4 weeks ago but I copy it below.
Hi to all Teams, I sent the following to another PD site and thought I would also put it on our site as a discussion topic for everyone. It would be interesting to see what you think or even if you have had any experience with supplement nutrition in relation to PD, especially with the non motor symptoms.
Hi to all who have written/replied re memory, cognitive , foggy brain issues. I too had noticed the problem of forgetting things,. would think of something to get, for example in the garage, and when I got there I had completely forgotten what it was I needed, or I would think of something to say and start saying it and mid sentence completely forget what I was talking about. Frustrating and embarrasing. I have not taken any meds for this. So I started researching and I discovered from amongst a host of different reports/studies and piecing together bits from here and there, that it appeared that people with PD seem to often be extremely low in certain Vitamins and minerals to varying degrees. These being- Vitamins B1Thiamine, B3 Niacinamide, B6 Peridoxine, B12 Cobalimin, B9 Folic Acid, D3, COQ10, Magnesium and Iron. So I thought I would do a trial by taking extras of these, over and above my standard daily multi complex vitamin & mineral capsule to see if it made any difference to these non motor symptoms. I have now been doing this for 6 weeks taking them every 2nd day. Although this is a fairly short time period, I have definitely noticed a change for the better in my overall wellbeing in not having anywhere near as much anxiety, heavy headedness, depression and brain fogginess. My cognitive and coordination seem to have been improving although I still am a bit forgetful. I can't say for sure that this is all because of the vitamins/minerals perhaps being brought more into balance in my system and thus my body functioning better or whether its a combination of this and the fairly intensive exercise program I try to do daily. Who knows? But I have noticed I am a lot better now than a few months ago, so I will continue and see if there is any long term benefits. Has anyone else tried this as would like to hear your experience. I am also on Sinemet 100/25 L/C 5x/day for PD motor symptoms and Gabapentin 100mg and Ropinirole 0.25mg 4x per night for RLS (restless legs and arms).
I have now been doing this for 10 weeks and can say I have not had any of the non motor symptoms I was previously getting, apart from still being a bit forgetful. So there could be something to this. I can't say it has done anything at this stage in relation to the motor aspects, but that may be hidden beneath what the Sinemet is doing in controlling them.
Will see what the next month is like.
Hope this goes towards answering your question.

Look up on you tube Dr. Constantini and all about vitamin B1. It has improved me amazingly.
Hi Brent. My hubs is holding steady. Not getting worse. Yesterday he took 500 mg in morning as well as afternoon for the first time! Definitely seemed less tired and he reported feeling better . He usually feels very tired in afternoon.
I know the supplements are helping his general health . Americans lack so much in their diets. Thank you for your interest!! I appreciate it. I live talking about nutrition and taught an adult class called The Daniel Plan.
I am impressed with your regime and especially the exercise! Drs even say that is the number one way to slow progression! I believe it, but also need nutritional support. Just think if people started at an early age exercising, eating right, supplementing their deficiencies, and having a healthy life style....we would see such a decrease in serious illness. God bless you and we will keep in touch!!
