Which Health Care Professionals Have You Consulted For Your PD ?
I have consulted a physical therapist speech therapist occupational therapist nutritionist ENT gastroenterologist nurse clinician
DOT scan will be the test for PD. I wish you well. Sounds like you have had so many specialists. Wish you could wrap yourself around one or two. All that running around is so disturbing for you. Stick with the therapist and get a walking specialist that can get it right. Hugs to you.
Took me almost a year to buy into my Parkinson's diagnosis even though I knew I probably had it. No family history but carbidopa-levodopa worked on me the instant I took it. That's after months of assuming it was carpal tunnel syndrome essential tremor and god-knows-what. After I was diagnosed him an appointment with 5 at the best med movement disorder specialist in Manhattan and they all told me I had Parkinson's. But here's the interesting addendum a good 9 years after I was diagnosed I saw a friend of a friend who has a top neurologist and really drill down and study my MRIS. He conjectured that my condition was 40% Parkinson's 40% style spinal stenosis and 20% vestiges of an arteriovenous malformation I had had 33 years before that. It hasn't significantly changed my treatment by medication or my activities but I did appreciate any more nuanced approach to my diagnosis. And that came from someone who wasn't a movement disorder specialist. It's based on the theory that to a carpenter every Hammer every male needs a hammer or whenever the expression is
General Practioner, Neurologist, Movement Disorder Specialist, Massage Therapist, Physical Therapist, Acupuncture, Chiropracter, ENT, Orthopedist, they all say Parkinson's but I'm there is no medical test to confirm, it is all observation of symptoms (right hand tremor and occasional right leg tremor, cramps in right arm and right foot).
You both deserve a lot of hugs!!!!!
My husband is complicated. He sees a movement disorder specialist for his parkinsons, has Myodisplastic Anemia, requiring occasional transfusions, and just had a bowel resection, which went well. Gets dialysis 3x a week for renal disease. So, in answer to your question, he has several doctors. It's complicated.
