Mucuna pruriens
Mucuna Pruriens, or Velvet Bean, is a bean that grows from trees and is very itchy to touch due to serotonin on its surface. It is a good source of L-DOPA, and contains some other molecules that may aid the benefits of L-DOPA. The other psychoactives in Mucuna are dosed too low to be relevant. Data was just pasted onto the website from examine.com
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member So far have tried dried Fava/Broadbeans soaked in oil and water and then used in a soup with veggies, curcumin/turmeric . googled fava bean recipes to come up with some possibilities.
In what form have you tried the broad beans?
Have tried it. Haven't noticed a difference except maybe some dyskinesia. Difficult to say with as many variables as one has going on at the same time. Also tried Fava Beans (also known as Broadbeans) and no real observable difference. Probably better to have respondents clarify what forms of levodopa and dosages they are already taking - I am taking about 425 mg of levodopa per day in the form of Rytary which is an extended release form that smooths out the amount of L-dopa in the blood/brain at any one moment - Also take a lot of other medications and supplements so it would be difficult to tease out the effect any one has unless it is strong and obvious. Mucuna pruriens apparently not real obvious with this subject. B-|
