@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member,
My husband just completed his 2nd DBS Surgery and maybe, I can relate to his outcome from it.
No, you cannot see the wires from the Conductor to his battery packs, my husband has 2 batteries ( one on each side of his chest).
You can only see the imprint of the batteries, and when I check my husband's batteries weekly from his remote, it is placed right on top of his implanted battery.
There are no visable scars.
They did shave my husband's head during surgery and he was awake fully during most of the surgery because the patient has to be able to answer doctors questions.
As for the transition time, when we went for our 1st Neurologist appointment from a specialist approximately 4 weeks after surgery as she wants time for healing before turning on Neuro stimulator from the battery pack. It was very important to us to have a Specialist who has been trained on DBS surgery to make adjustments to the Neuro stimulator.
My husband's surgery also included the University of Vanderbilt and was satellite back to other doctors. That part was amazing as there are a lot of physicians, nurses and others who are involved and for everyone involved, we were very thankful. As far as his meds, they have changed to only 4 a day and 1 at night.
I hope, I have been able to answer your questions or at least some of them. Peg

Having had very aggressive Distonia as a symptom myself if that was only symptom back under control i would still think it was well worth it. Sine probes implanted in march 2017 not one single solitary Distonia attack has got hold of me whoop whoop best decision I ever made xxx

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member I see you have the double key stroke issue, too. 20115! indeed. B-) I got DBS for Parkinson's almost immediately after being diagnosed - installed in February of 2012. Had some ups and downs over the last 5 years, due to other issues, but overall, it's been an upward curve in terms of quality of life and reduction of symptoms. Sometimes it takes a while for me to finish an email or comment, what with going back to correct typos, but like others, wouldn't give it up for nothin'
