Is There A Reason?

A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

So someone talking of their disability said "We're all given stuff for a reason".

As an atheist my first thought was no, there is no reason. You (we, I guess) are just unlucky. And that led me into thoughts of if there's no reason, what's the point? In that big, existentialist way, what's the point?

I was depressed for like a half second before I had a thought that was so alien and so obvious at the same time.

You get to make your own reason. You are your own point.

Since it has never occurred to me that there was nothing good which can come from suffering I am somewhat at a loss as to how to answer you. Suffering has made me a better person, a more empathetic person, and for that I am grateful, but my faith in God is stronger as well because He gives me the strength to get through and the knowledge to know I can trust Him. I try to understand the atheistic point of view but without God there truly is no point; when life ends there's nothing and I can't see a point in nothing after all this struggle. But we are all created by God, and thereby loved by Him. Who am I therefore, to not love you all as well. You are lovable and that works for me.

Hi Nigel! I do not know the answers. All I know that I have "faith". My faith is mine alone, I don't share it. I believe that a God would not place us on this earth without purpose. What that purpose is I don't waste time thinking about it now, I believe it will be revealed to me on time. Be patient. There is plenty of room in this world for all of us. I like being the best that I can, & that means I face my challenges with an open mind. Nigel, I like you, & whatever or however you choose to live your life is okay. Take care of yourself & enjoy your Holidays! Hugs, AnneKristine 🩷

I got symptoms poppin up every which way 😬☹🤬 SOOO I come here to talk to you.
