I’m not certain about what causes facial masking,, but I do know that many of thePD exercises and speech exercises include facial exercises I think
just like many parts of the body need movement and to keep one’s face to keep from looking angry or upset all the time. While it may seem strange to make exaggerated faces at yourself in a mirror, or say words or sounds that make us use the muscles in our faces , I feel it’s a vital part of my daily program. My Mom had PD late in life and looked angry all the time.even when she wasn’t. I’m working really hsrd to avoid having that expression..

Not everyone gets the facial masking. My husband and his younger brother both have Parkinson's. Both were diagnosed at about age 80. They have different symptoms. His brother has very definite facial masking while Jim doesn't have it at all. He is as expressive as he was 32 years ago when we met.

symptoms while giving the disease freedom from diagnostic tools.,
treatments, assays and cures.

It's possible that your consistent use of Sinemet (carbidopa/levodopa) has helped manage motor symptoms, including facial masking (hypomimia), which is a common physical change in Parkinson's disease. Levodopa replenishes dopamine levels, which may help maintain normal facial expressions. However, individual progression of Parkinson's varies, and not everyone experiences the same symptoms or changes at the same rate. If you have concerns, discuss them with your neurologist.
