The only person who knows you’re over doing is you, and you only learn that by attempting it.

As long as your are careful. You can try anything. You can keep trying it, and you will improve with each attempt.

Remember the people who say such things are trying to protect you. Don’t listen to them, but thank them for their concern.

It has taken me years of constant reminding my family ( sisters and husband) that if I want or need their help I will ask for it. And so, please don’t assume I can’t do something. I will be happy to let you know when I would like your advice too.
Thank you for caring about me, but I still need to do the things I want to do. I feel if I don’t, I won’t be able to when I need to.

Many people with Parkinson's disease feel frustrated by well-meaning but unhelpful advice. Common sentiments include:

- "It can't be that bad."
- "At least it's not cancer."
- "Don't let it define you."
- "God doesn't give you more than you can handle."
- "You don't look like you have Parkinson's."
- "Just hire someone."

These comments can make individuals feel their condition is minimized and misunderstood. It's important to communicate your needs clearly and set boundaries, especially during challenging times like the holidays.
