Anyone Have A Loved One With Memory Loss From Parkinson’s?

A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭
Panama City Beach, FL

My husband has advanced to the point of not remembering me at times after 22 years of marriage. He’s had Parkinson’s since 2017, seems like a rapid decline the last two years

Hi Ginny
It is terrible. My heart breaks every time. My husband and I have had the closest relationship (soul mates). The hardest reality is that it does happen. No one can prepare you for these awful consequences of Parkinson’s dementia. My husband is so young, just 66. The kindest, loving, most selfless person I know who loves Jesus.
I hope you never have these issues with your spouse. ♥️

We moved here to Minot,ND 3 yrs ago after living in Grand Forks,ND for 52 yrs, he does get confused as to where he is , thinks he is still inGF, he also makes up things , like what I have said or says his brother Duane said this about something to him about our home or money, he hasn’t spoken with his brother in a long time about anything . So far I have been able to take care of him by myself, I know the time will come when I need someone,, but for now it’s not bad . ❤️

I know what you mean. We could be driving in the car and my husband would ask where I am. I would tell him I’m right here sitting next to you holding your hand. Does your husband get angry and forget where he’s at like home? With his dementia he makes up stuff that either I have said or someone else. Do you have help at home with your husband?

My husband sometimes looks at me and asks where “Christine “ is, (that’s me). That’s when I get scared and then just like that he smiles !!!! He sometimes think I am his brother, if we have had a conversation about something, he will say he talked to Duane, It’s hard to understand that, we have been married 52 yrs.
