Has Anyone Used A Massage Chair For Relief? I Tried Out One In Costco Last Week And It Was AMAZING!! It Was By Human Touch.

A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

I got out of it after about 10 minutes and I felt like I was dancing and floating around the store! All my aches and pains were gone... including the terrible back pain! It compressed my legs and arms and helped with fluid retention too and I had better focus. I have never experienced anything like it. Does anyone know anything about them? Do Dr's write scripts for them? I know some insurances pay for massages. The chair is very expensive. 🙄

But if my insurance would pick up a good portion of it, (they covered most of my compression boots which were $7500), I could feel AMAZING every day! And I could get so much more done!

They are expensive as you rightly say I saw a Titan 11 for the paltry sum of £11,000 ! That's more than my pocket money for a whole year ! I think I would visit Costco more frequently....

Massage chairs can indeed provide significant relief for some people, including those with Parkinson's disease. They can help alleviate muscle stiffness, improve circulation, and reduce pain. However, it's important to consult with your healthcare provider before making any decisions, as they can offer personalized advice based on your specific condition and needs.

Regarding insurance coverage, it's less common for insurance to cover the cost of a massage chair. However, some insurance plans may cover therapeutic massages if prescribed by a doctor. It's best to check with your insurance provider to understand what is covered under your plan.

Here are some steps you can take:
- Consult your doctor: Discuss the benefits you experienced and ask if a massage chair could be beneficial for your condition.
- Check insurance coverage: Contact your insurance provider to see if they cover therapeutic massages or massage chairs.
- Explore alternatives: If a massage chair is too expensive, consider regular sessions with a licensed massage therapist, which might be covered by insurance.

Remember, while massage chairs can provide temporary relief, they should complement other treatments and therapies recommended by your healthcare provider.
