I'm Struggling To Understand- Does Everyone Have "off" Periods? Do You Spend Most Of Time Trying To Move?

A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

I don't know what to do? I started Crexont in September. I have gotten the doctor to increase the dosage 3 times and I'm still not moving like I think I should be. My daughter turned 18 on Nov. 2. Did I get to celebrate with her? No!. I am so angry that I'm not functioning. I am second guessing myself. Is this what my life is now. Do a spend most of my time literally not moving? Laying on my back on the couch or my bed
How much of this is this mental? Diet? Meds not adjusted? Should I be in… read more

I understand! I’ve learned that I need to accept this disease as reality. I’ve had to accept help from others. Very hard for me to do. I’m also in recovery from an addiction to opioids. Recovery has taught me a lot about accepting a disease and its limitations. I haven’t driven a car for over 3 years. Now I could just not go to my recovery meetings. Instead I have asked my friends to help me. They are more happy to help. Now with PD I have done the same. I know how important it is to accept the help of my friends and family. It’s been difficult at times but sharing what’s happening with me to someone else helps me get through the especially difficult times. I hope this helps.

Oh, yes.I totally understand. I'm in the process of trying to adjust to new c/L, and it takes time, to learn it, my body to adjust to the new stuff, my body to adjust to the loss of the old stuff.its a pain, it really is, but all you can do, is trial and error..my neuro just gave me 4 new pills, all with different Milligrams..eeeekkkk..which do I take, and when? She..my Dr, gave me a schedule, that is worthless..my body doesn't follow her instructions, at all!, good luck..you will figure it all out.

So sorry that you are having to struggle with this insidious disease. I find that mid morning and evening are an off time for me.Dr increased my C/L last visit.

I have down periods sometimes lasting two to three days but I force myself to get back in the game even if it's taking the garbage out or cleaning one room also try to stay ahead of the game by sticking to your medication schedule so your doctor will know what meds you might need to increase or if you need to change your medication, my wife writes everything down so it makes my condition easier to track .I hope you feel better.

Hello You may want to check with your doctor about starting you on a different medication if what you are taking now isn't working for you. If he won't listen to you, maybe you need to find someone who will.
