It Has Appeared To Me A Social Worker..that Some If Not Many Are Challenged By A Lack Of Sufficient Funds To Live..what Can We Come Up With
I believe it is vital to build a support network of people who are willing to help. Our local church has adopted a young lady with Parkinson's. We provide not only some financial support but travel to Dr's Dentists etc.. Also help around the home or apartment and most of all companionship. By creating a group of supporters no one person has to do it all.
Social Security has a benefits check up tool that looks at a senior's eligibility for a variety of services from various types of medical care to meals, meds, transportation, etc. Iy is income based but many services do not require you to be below the poverty level to qualify.
I hoe this helps some.

Thank you for asking this question. I live in fear of running out of our money as his Parkinson's gets worse. I worry about myself being able to handle the stages as they are coming faster than anticipated. I keep telling myself to give it up to God. It does help to let go for now but sometimes those worries creep back in. We just started attending a new church because our last church has dissipated and went bankrupt. Many of the old members from our other church are there. So I feel accepted. I know I'll need help as my husband's Parkinson's progresses. Right now I am grateful that we are doing okay today in our 42nd Anniversary! Hugs to all!
I love hearing about this community and how the church has stepped up to help this person!
With many people living to be older it seems like there are a lot of health issues that come with advanced age and increased prevalence of medical conditions (Parkinson's included) there is a real need for help. Now we have a significant increase in the number of young people developing Parkinson's and they too will probably need help if not now at some point in the future. It is a challenge to prepare to be solvent in retirement to begin with then when you add in the challenges of a premature retirement the likelihood of having both financial challenges and care needs increases. It seems like the question remains how can this be addressed and who could provide the support.
