Does Anyone With PD That Has Low Back Pain ALSO Had It Before PD? I Am Trying To See If It's A Symptom Of PD Or Just Low Back Pain...

A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I ask because now I watch lots of TV and I am told low back pain is due to watching too much TV. Is this true???

Pain was my PRIMARY SYMPTOM!!
It was also the reason why it took 7 years to get my diagnosis πŸ˜• think about it...a woman comes to the doctor complaining about pain in her back and hips....you got it! Nothin to see here....πŸ˜–
What i learned :
Difficulty turning over in bed. πŸ™„
Pain that kinda travels around but usually hits certain areas the most. Like lightning, searing pain or vice like.
Blood pressure goes a little wonky, mine caused me to be hospitalized because it was over 200 and couldn't be stabilized.
Your body temp gets wonky.
The longer you sit the harder it is to get up but the longer you stand the more you need to sit.
Things don't stay in your hands. Sippy cups look like a really good idea πŸ€”
You fall...a lot. The nurses at the ER were no longer asking if I felt safe at home...now they brought their coleges up to listen how I did This one. πŸ˜†

How i cope.....I pray and laugh as often as possible!

Doctor, the pain in my hack is terrible..."Here is a referral to a back surgeon. "
Back surgeon, "there is nothing here to operate on.".
Brought all my reports to my neurologist and suprise suprise. You are the proud owner of a brain that has Parkinson's.
Awesome πŸ˜–
"Hey honey, guess what we get to finish out our years...
No this isn't about my seizures...no this isn't about my RLS, This is the diagnosis we have been trying to figure out for 7 years....that's right, we have Parkinson's, yup, I feel it and you deal with it. I know...think about the bonding πŸ€” the closeness we will have ! You get to help me do everything and I get to wither emotionally and physically πŸ‘".
Thank you Lord for the chance to truly understand the vows we made 45 years ago. Thank you Lord for allowing us the chance to go through this together because I would be scared to death without my best friend to hold my trembling hands. Thank you Lord for showing me the love of my family. Thank you Lord for showing me that the world will not end if my husband loads the dishwasher wrong and Lord, you were right, they do come clean anyway πŸ™. Thank you Lord for your strength and mercy,, not everyone could handle this kind of challenge.

I’ve had back pain for many years. However, Parkinson’s can make existing back pain worse, and can cause back pain on its own.

It is always best to have things checked.

I'm told there is no way to declare a PD diagnosis in the beginning; a neurologist said the best way to guess one has PD is to start a med and see what happens. I started C/L and stopped falling completely which was the reason my PCP sent me to a neurologist in the first place. He said there was no way to confirm P/D even then. After
I was taking C/L for several years and still no falling my neurologist ordered a DAT SCAN which clinched the diagnosis according to my doc and after several more symptoms appeared there was no doubt. I don't know why a DAT SCAN can't determine PD in the beginning except that many years later definitive changes have happened to our brain which is then proof of PD.
