Hip Joint Pain

A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

Question for the group: for the last 2-3 months, I've been experiencing almost constant pain in my hip joints, more so on my left side (which is also the side affected by my tremors). Honestly, I'm not sure if the pain is due to Parkinson's, or if it's due to the fact that, well, I'm not getting any younger (I'll be 64 in August 2024).

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this? It's been significant enough that it has cut into my walking to some degree. Anyway, your input is most… read more

Hi Eric, my husband has been suffering from hip pain in his left hip, for a long while, since June 2023. He's 71 years old. It has been cutting into his ability to walk, same as you.

We finally went to his primary care doctor, and she had some x-rays taken of left hip and they showed severe arthritis in the joint, as well as the cushioning between the joint and socket has been pretty much worn away. His tremors started on his left side as well. He scheduled an appointment with an Orthopedic doctor after the x-rays, she examined him & recommended a corticosteroid injection to help with the pain. She gave one to him in the left hip joint area using ultrasound to guide her placement of the injection. It's seems to be helping, because he's not taking Advil all the time. The Orthopedic doctor said that he can get another injection in April.

I hope that this is helpful to you.

LesWilliams2,
How difficult was having a hip replacement done & how difficult was it to recover from?
