@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member. Yes I do.

Itā€™s called:
ā€œCognitive Communication Disorderā€ characterized by attention, memory, & executive functioning decline. This is my results copied from my testing.

When I saw my Psychiatrist the next day & tried to tell him the best I could. My Psychiatrist simply called it Aphasia. I looked in dictionary for ā€œAphasiaā€ this is what I found.

Pathology:
An impairment of a previously held ability to produce or understand spoken, written, or signed language, due to disease or injury to the brain.

From 1865-1870 from Greek:
Literally ā€œspeechlessnessā€

So yes it is caused by our enemy Parkinsonā€™s or Brain Injury.
It is not the softening of your voice or the hoarseness.

I hope this helps to understand what it is, & what causes it .
We can always whistle or just smile a lot at people.?šŸ˜†
God Bless all of us who are experiencing this & be taught the ways we can help ourselves by working with a Speech Pathologist, which includes Cognitive Problems. We owe it to our selves .
Prayers for all & Blessings & Love

I would say yes to this question- though Iā€™m not sure if itā€™s the diminishing of my hubs voice as it is the ability for him to remain focused in our conversations. At first before we understood PD was now along for the ride, I thought he would tire of my voice lol-?which may have been partly true. But he uses a lot of energy to remain working and when he returns home he is tired and he really does need a rest from talking. So we text, and thatā€™s an easier way for us to communicate when he is ā€œtalk-tiredā€. Thatā€™s a new symptom I just made up, but maybe it resonates w some of you and your significant others. ā¤ļø

I have the same problem, pd is stealing my voice and a lot of the time my wife is not close enough to hear me so I try to remember to to say "CAN YOU HEAR ME" before wasting a lot of words. There's alot of speech therapy available .but it sounds like your husband thinks your the one with the problem. LOL good luck with that!

My speech will definitely soften when not on meds. I feel as if I have to shout for people to hear me. Between my soft speech and my husbands hearing loss, we make quite a pair. I am going to need to carry around a portable amplifier soon!

Hi Teresa I think Parkinsonā€™s can definitely lead to diminished communication. The typing is difficult, our speech can be affected, mood changes,, ,becoming more isolated etc sending love Robyn
