Hello, Recently My Husband Has Been Having More Delusions, And Hallucinations Then He Normally Has.

We spoke to the doctor and since he was taken the lowest dose of carbidopa-leodopa , and it only seem to make him sleepy the doctor told him to stop taking it because it possible that he does not have Parkinson, but parkinsonism. It has been a week and still delusions and hallucinations. Does anyone have any advice on what direction we should take now! I'm so confused on what to do now.

Did your doctor indicate whether he thinks your husband has Lewy Body Dementia? That is a Parkinsonism that starts with dementia. Did he send him for any tests to see if he has a UTI or Vitamin B deficiency causing the problems?

There are medications that can help with Parkinson's psychosis, but your doctor may want to wait to see if his current issues last more than a week or two. If he just took him off the meds without suggesting further testing or treatment, it might be time to get a new doctor.

I'm sorry to hear that your husband is experiencing more delusions and hallucinations. Here are some insights from the knowledge base that might help:

- Types of Hallucinations: Visual hallucinations are the most common, often involving animals or people. Auditory hallucinations, like hearing distant sounds, are less frequent.
- Types of Delusions: Common delusions include jealousy and persecutory delusions, which can lead to paranoia, mistrust, and anxiety.
- Risks: Both hallucinations and delusions can be dangerous if acted upon, leading to unsafe behavior.
- Management: Managing these symptoms may involve changes to Parkinson's treatment and ensuring a safe environment.

If these symptoms are increasing, it might be a good idea to consult with his healthcare provider for further guidance.

Hello,
After reading the notes after the visit it appears that she is not sure what he has. She said possible LBD, MSA or a combination of other Parkinson like disease. I am thinking about getting a second opinion. Thanks for sending me an answer
