Well I think we can all agree that upon receiving the diagnosis your whole world is turned upside down. I really believe that the immediate time after this is massively important. I think anyone would think negatively and if allowed to fester become a victim of depression - don't let it happen!
If at all possible be positive and treat it like a challenge.
Best wishes

I was really angry for about a month
Then depression
Best thing I did was go to a Parkinson’s support group
Seeing people living with it and getting along really helped me out
I’m at peace with it now
A good spiritual direction can really help you out as well

I did as I was sent to the wrong consultant and was told as a matter of fact the consultant said you have Parkinson’s is that not what you expected and he got me to see a movement diorder consultant who was very. Good I was just coming to terms with the diagnosis when 1/2 later I was diagnosed with breast cancer 😱😱😱😱I didn’t have time to get depressed

I was first diagnosed with depression and anxiety. Then one year later they changed the diagnosis to Parkinson’s. But yes I was relieved and angry and then I got busy with my life. That was 13 years ago. Now yes I take an antidepressant but I am still here and kicking. Thanks thanks be to God. God bless you and keep you in his good graces!

I think I had depression and anxiety before the diagnosis, and I reckon it's part of my pd experience now too. Black Dog comes at me every evening, now I've realised his routine I'm ready for him. But times I'm really low, get to the point of working out an exit strategy. It's a terrible thing, depression - and people around you don't know how to help. Sending good wishes to you.
