Orthostatic hypotension, also known as dizziness upon standing up, is a condition that can affect people with Parkinson's disease. Here are some key points:

- Treatment: Northera (droxidopa) is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat orthostatic hypotension in people with Parkinson’s disease.
- Precautions: Northera is not suitable for individuals who have shown hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to droxidopa, aspirin, or the dye FD&C yellow No. 5 (tartrazine). It must be used with caution in people with asthma, heart, or kidney problems, or a history of stroke. It may also not be appropriate for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Function: Northera functions as a vasopressor or vasoconstrictor, which means it works by constricting the blood vessels to increase blood pressure.

Pkk, OH requires careful monitoring of your BP. Drink lots of water. I drink Gatorade. I also take Midodrine prescribed by my cardiologist. Some days it works great. Some days it doesn't. My BP fluctuates all the time.
