Neupro Patches

A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭
Woodbridge, NJ

My PD is progressing and Carbidopa/Levadopa is not longer working effectively for me, so the neurologist prescribed me the Neupro patches. A 30 count box cost $825. I wished he would have had a sample to try and see if it would work for me. They are very expensive and I won’t be able to afford them. Has anyone tried the Neupro patches? Can I get them cheaper? Thank you 🙏

I have been using the Neupro patch for several years. It, in combination with Carbo/Levo, has helped me a lot. The manufacturer has a program allowing purchase at a MUCH lower cost if your income falls within the specified range.

My dad uses the 8mg patch. I forgot how expensive it is. My parents are lucky because my mom is a retired teacher in NJ and her medical insurance covers the cost. I think she told me each prescription costs somewhere around $85 if I remember correctly. I hate that pharmaceutical companies can price meds outside of the reach of most people. I once got a medication on a trial basis through the manufacturer...but once the free program ran out I found out the med costs $1600 without insurance and something like $800 with it. I was really upset. It was a medication for weight loss and it worked so well! Now I've gained back the 50 or so pounds I lost. I just hope one day when the patent runs out and other companies can manufacture it so that the price decreases drastically!

One other thought. There is a website called findhelp.com that I was recently introduced to. Try and see if there is a category that provides assistance to pay for medications. I hope you can get some assistance. My dad swears by that patch. Good luck. If I hear of anything else I will post on here.

Call the manufacturer. Many times they assist you with payment. I once got a $1300 drug for free. Can't hurt to ask. Good luck.
