Check out The Alexander Technique; I believe it is often cited as helping greatly with both posture and balance.

I was told to find a spot (clear of junk) and stand next to putting emphasis on my head, bottom and feet shoulder length apart. My shoulders should be touching the wall for my posture. Think about it, pull in my stomach and stand there at least 1to 5 minutes each day.
