Hi! My Husband Has Violent Nightmares…. He Takes Clonazipam To Keep Him From Acting Out In His Sleep. Anyone Else Have The Nightmare Issue?
I don’t envy anyone who has lucid violent dreams. My mom used to tell me to decide what I wanted to dream about and it often worked. My husband and I have never had a TV in our bedroom. All electronics are turned off so no blue light. I like to read actual books at night. I got a bunch of travel guides that I read before sleep. Last night I spent a delightful 6 hrs in Portugal
where I have never been physically. I have always been susceptible to outside stimuli so perhaps that’s why this seems to work for me. Give it a try it might work for you, although I am pretty sure it’s the lack of meds that gives me rest.

Due to my husband's inability to see in the dark, we have to have a light on in the bedroom. Then we have in addition to that motion sensor ones attached to our bed frame which are battery powered. Down the hallway it looks like an airport runway as we have a lightstrip attached to the wall, above all the light switched we have motion sensors so he can find the switch. We fo have a phone in our bedroom, however, all notifications, and such are turned off between 9 pm and 8 am. Except for being able to receive calls from our sons, his brother or my sisters. They only call if it is an emergency. I can't say if he is having issued with being susceptible to outside stimuli. It does make me think.I am going to make a journal of the stimuli of the day and see if it affects his sleep patterns.
My husband had nightmares he acted out on for years and I'm wondering if he was in early parkinson's. It got dangerous sleeping next to him. He was actually diagnosed with sleep apnea and using a CPAP machine has stopped the nightmares.
My husband had these and along with the Clonazepam his neurologist put him on Exalon Patch (Rivistagamine Transdermal Patch). It was prescribed to stop his hallucinations as well as the mild cognitive decline. While this may not be an option for your husband, it may be worth discussing it with the doctor that is providing care for his Parkinson's
