Who Has Had DBS?
I'm interested in everyone's/anyone's experience if you have had DBS. I'm considering - will discuss it with my doctor next week. I have had PD for 13 1/2 years. I'm now 64, "off" time is a LOT of the time; tremor/cramping;
Just want to know what y'all have to say about it.
Thank you!
Missy
My guy, partner, has had DBS for over 5 years. His experience was excellent. I cried trying to thank his surgeon. One side of the brain he just sailed through and was flirting w the nurses when leaving the recovery room. One year later, the other side was done, but a very different recovery. He cried and was very emotional about almost everything. Only lated about 3 months. All that being said, his quality of life has improved dramatically and recommends this miracle to everyone. No regrets.
Best of luck to you, big hugs

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, they did not shave my hair off at all. Bean
They have to shave your hair off but it grows back was the way I looked at it. I would do it again.,Surgery really not painfull. Recovery fast. I love it made me a new person. I swear by a DBS., I’ve heard nothing but good about it from others even.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member,I would say, go for it! I had it in 2019 but still trying to get the right settings in the programming of the unit. But many more people seem to have very good results with it. I did however get rid of some symptoms but developed some new symptoms after DBs like anxiety, nervousness and depression. I did get rid of my tremor in my right hand and the dystonia in both feet, which was awful. I would have liked to get rid of taking so much medication as I take mine meds every two hours and seem to have more OFF time then good time but that has not happened yet. I have had PD for 16 years. Hope this helps. Bean
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, No not me yet but that is an excellent question. Cannot wait to see the responses. Bean
