I notice a effect on my sense of humour and ability to laugh at myself. Any one experienced this?

Are you allowing this apathy run / ruin your LIFE? You do not want to make any changes in your life?

“Accept that your life will change but keep active and find a caring neurologist.” your words - advise you are recommending to others. This is quite positive, don’t you think? And, if I might be so presumptuous to add, very good, excellent advice!

Surely, you must have something you want to do and can do. Look LindaCH, I have had PD since 2004. I too have other medical conditions. I too live in a rural setting. Every place we need to get too is a minimum 40 to 60 minutes away. I have 5 points in my philosophy of life, I will tell you only my last two, which I feel are the MOST important!! 4. I do NOT miss a party is I can help it, 5. I dance like NO ONE IS LOOKING!

I collected the following info from several collected the following info from several web sites about Parkinson's Disease.. Most people don’t know this part of P.D.!

P.D. happens when the brain stops making dopamine! They don’t know why! There is no cure! Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that helps control the brain's reward and pleasure centers. It is a chemical in your brain that affects your movements, emotions, and your sensations of pleasure, sex, lust, and love. Dopamine is the brain chemical that allows us to have feelings, emotions, bliss, pleasure, euphoria, drive, focus, and concentration. Dopamine is crucial to the feeling of motivation a feeling of satisfaction! Lab mice with dopamine deficiency are so unmotivated that they starve to death ,even when food is readily available.

What happens to P.D.. Patients:
- lack of interest in life
- decreased motivation
- procrastination
- inability to feel pleasure
- fatigue
- mood swings
- excessive feelings of hopelessness and guilt
- poor memory
- inability to focus
- impaired concentration

I debated whether to send this out to you! It's not the good positive news you like t here, but you and your caregivers need to know, in order to recognize & fight this part of P.D.

We need to learn the good, the bad, and the ugly of Parkinsons. So do our caregivers and our family members... no matter how awful or distasteful ot may be. Remember, "we have nothing to fear but fear itself." (FDR). The more we know about the symptoms , the better educated we are, the less we will be surprised. We can deal with with a disaster if we know it is coming. I is when the tornado hits and we.ve only had 13 mins to prepare that we cry, kick, scream and curse into the night!!

Better to know what is coming than to be surprised.... even Christ looked into the future and knew his fate!!

We cannot hide from what we possibly will be our lot!! So suck it up fellow Parkies.... ours is a fate still in somewhat our control. NOT like ALS or Alzheimer's. [or other diseases and conditions.]

Apathy is a PD characteristic. Apathy is a state of indifference, or the suppression of emotions such as concern, excitement, motivation, or passion. An apathetic individual has an absence of interest in or concern about emotional, social, spiritual, philosophical, or physical life and the world. The apathetic may lack a sense of purpose, worth, or meaning in their life. I definitely have it and have lost all ability to care. Sounds awful but I still have compassion to a degree but I don't have any desire to do the things I once did or visit. But, I suffer from several medical and physical problems that affect my ability to do those things anyway.

YOU DO NOT WANT to lose your sense of humor. I sometimes get a "Parkinsons Personality"! I liken it to a 'Diabetic Personality."

I have been dealing with PD for 15 years now. If I can deal it with smile for that length of time, any one can!! Just remember there are much worse conditions we can have ...ALS comes to mind, or Alzheimer's....

As long as I wake up on the right-side of the divit ,,,, I am happy!!
