Im Thinking Of Joining A Gym ,i Still Work But Was Wondering If The Gym Is A Good Way To Exersice To Help With Pd.
I tried lots of different types of exercise when first diagnosed. Pilates made me shake uncontrollably, so I tried swimming but due to never having been a strong swimmer and my inability to syncrinise my arm and leg movements due to PD it looked like I was drowning haha. I kept waiting for some body to throw me the the life guard ring. Haha. I decided to keep it simple I walk the dog up and down hill through the woods. I go at pace. Exercise is very good for my PD but you do not need to run a marthon. A little every day suits me!
Thank God for this format, Dr.tell you nothing, only write scips
I know, I answered this already, but exercise is an important part of healthy living for everyone. For people with Parkinson’s, exercise is more than healthy: it is a vital component to maintaining balance, mobility and the ability to perform activities of daily living.
In fact, research from the Parkinson’s Outcomes Project shows that people with Parkinson's who exercise a minimum of 2.5 hours a week experience a slowed decline in quality of life. Establishing early exercise habits is an essential part of overall disease management.

Paul, don't know where you are living, but "ROCK STEADY BOXING" is really hot in the U.S. It is for PWP only, and is having great results !
I walk/run 5-miles a day, take Tai Chi (excellent for your balance) twice a week, and work with weights. Also, see if there is a Rock Steady Boxing gym near you. Good stuff. Get yourself in a good routine, keeping in mind that you are not training for a marathon. An hour a day does wonders, but you must be committed. You don't have to do the same thing every day, but, you have to do something, whatever you can, everyday.
