Is A Neuroligist The Preferred Kind Of Doctor To Treat PD Or Should I Be Seeing A PD Specialist?
I've been diagnosed with PD for about six years now and I regularly see the nueraoigist who made my diagnosis. I find myself wondering if this is the best doctor to continue seeing or are there PD specialists that might provide a higher level of care. How many folks see a PD specialists for their care?
I just found a Parkinson Specialist/Tremor physician. I had a two hour consultation with her on MOnday, and I found her to be the kind of doctor I want. She put my history chart in her computer, prescription (time I take them). I was diagnosed August 2016 my neurologist who referred this doctor to me. I will see her every three months. I am feeling so weak and take Levadopa am and pm. She changed my prescription and the times I take them. She offered references for voice (I lost my voice and speak very softly now. I felt under the neurologist I was pretty much taking care of myself. I only saw neurologist twice and he referred me to this specialist. I feel good about being under her care now. I feel like there is hope for me! Exercise is big for me now, and Yoga, Tai Chi / suggested I go to Senior Centers/gym. Keep moving!
a movement specialist is preferred .
Sees a movement specialist
I see a movement specialist at the University of Cincinnati. I have been pleased so far.
If you contact the National Parkinson's Foundation, they can give you the name of a Movement Disorder Specialist in your area. Good Luck!
