I Was Diagnosed 3 Year’s Ago. I Can Run But Have Problem Walking. Does This Sound Familiar?
The predictive text calls it menstruation, but we know that is not correct.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member - are you looking for the word festination or festinating? That would make sense. Since festinating is leaning forward and taking small steps that get faster and faster until you are out of control, it makes sense that running could be easier than walking, since that is basically what running is, as long as you are able to stop yourself without falling.
Not exactly my experience. Walking along; involuntary speed takes over and then moving too fast, running. Need object like a car, or building wall to stop. Luckily, I always.found something to stop me..I found frightening.
Fell twice on concrete in falling stage, and could not get up. Luckily, there were good Samaritans to help me up, but legs need to be pulled in to stand before walking possible. I did it, but painful and not easy to tuck legs in.
If not for hand tremors, I would think my serious spinal issues caused this, but not all of the problem . I have no cognitive problem, no speech problem, but hate motor problems, especially now the slowness.
I have gotten more tremulous overall and Sinemet wears off too soon and sometimes lasts too long; probably timing around eating issue. See Parkinsons specialist 12/3.
Don't like living in pretty prison. Can't drive, do walk indoors without walker, but hold on to.things as I go.
Latest problem is fridge; angle to take things out. or put things away is more difficult than before.and balance awful but don't fall.
Saw balance exercise on Utube; had to laugh b/c instructor moving.way too fast.
Last visit to doc after DAT Scan left me confused; good news, "no degeneration." What does that mean.? He is a Parkinsons specialist; Harvard Med .School. Need to press him.more.
Maybe he is talking about himself!
I was a ballet student, + extreme exerciser, given solos and could pirouette forever. Did all the right things; maybe bad things would have helped. to prevent.
Doubt it.

I wish the system let's me give you the correct medical term.
My primary care doctor knows the correct term, my Parkinsons specialist knows the correct term, I know the correct term, but AI does not. .
