How Can I Improve My Speech? Is Speech Therapy The Only Solution?
I am having more and more trouble finding the words to describe what I mean. I end up stumbling over my words like the tongue twisters.
Susan,
My voice has to be the worst you have ever heard- what I do that helps me is I play John Denver on full blast and sing along to Annie's Song, Rocky Mountain High,& Take Me Home County Roads- ***Full Blast-if anything it gets you in a good mood.
Good Luck
Does your neurologist give you any help? Any direction on what may be causing this. Could it be a side effect of medication ? To much , to little , wrong combo ? My neurologist does not prefer the extended release form of carbidopa levadopa he says it's not as effective as immediate release. I am not a doctor but I have weaned myself off of carbidopa levadopa at least 8 times . I wanted to see what I was like without the medicine unfortunately for me each time I find I am declining and the medicine is still very necessary to function at all. I cannot think or move or talk right without it. I am a zombie. I do ween myself very slowly over approximately two months. Maybe you talk to your doctor about weaning process from the extended to the immediate release. I would feel for myself that it would be a slow process but maybe a good one. I take carbidopa levadopa immediate release right now every 3 hours use to be four. I tried extended release did not like it. I do not take anything overnight .Just deal with it in the morning till meds kick in. Everyone is different and I hope you find your answers. Many of these medications deal with changing brain chemistry and can have unwanted side effects. So you must evaluate everything you are taking and try to rule in or out what is not working right for you. It is a pain in the a-- , but it has to be done . There are two people that can help you , one would be your doctors the second would be the " boss " that would be you. Making the decisions after you hear all the suggestions. I wish you the best and hope you find the answers you want. Remember you are not alone there are many of us trying to figure this out. Best wishes and success in finding some answers.
I find that what I am thinking is not always what comes out of my mouth.
Susan, my reply was meant for the question about extended release sorry it went in wrong area.
Thank you, I will check that out.
