Yes, Parkinson's disease (PD) can impact delayed response time when driving. PD often affects motor skills, coordination, and reaction times, which are crucial for safe driving. Here are some key points:

- Motor Skills: PD can cause tremors, stiffness, and bradykinesia (slowness of movement), all of which can impair the ability to control a vehicle.
- Coordination: The disease can affect hand-eye coordination, making it difficult to perform tasks like steering or using pedals.
- Reaction Time: Delayed response times can occur due to the cognitive and motor impairments associated with PD, increasing the risk of accidents.

It's important for individuals with PD to regularly assess their driving abilities and consult with healthcare professionals to ensure safety.

I have been struggling with Parrot 16 years. I continued to drive until 2 years ago when my wife told me she was concerned about my failing reflexes. My son told me I could not drive my granddaughters around because he was concerned about my PD affecting my reflexes. At that point I gave up my keys. After reflecting on my disease progression I am satisfied with the decision.

My response time certainly slowed down after my PD diagnosis and was my reason for handing over my keys. Sad but necessary.

I have had two incidents where I stomped on the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal. Thankfully I am a driver who gives plenty of room between me and the car ahead. (Until someone needs to fill it in)
I was fast enough to sense what was going on and quickly got on the brakes.
Yes, I am now seriously considering not driving.
The loss of independence is minimal compared to ramming into the side of a store.

That is the reason l quit driving. The car in front of me almost hit a little girl. It scared me so bad because I
Knew I have hit the little girl. I went home and gave my keys to my husband. It's been.t years. And. I know l haven't maimed or kill anyone
