Does Anyone Else Think Sinemet Works Better Than The "generic" Versions Like Caramet Or Co-careldopa?
My doc has put me on a single 200/50mg tablet of controlled release L-dopa. Only Sinemet is available in this size.
Given I was on 2x100/25 of a generic brand, the difference seems huge...but he has also given me pregabalin overnight.
Just wondered what other people thought.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member my doc has me on pregabalin instead of Gabapentin - certainly seems to help me sleep better, though my Fitbit still tells me I get very little "deep" sleep; mostly light and REM...but on the pregabalin and single 200/50 tablet I at least can get six hrs plus, rather than four or less.
It was my suggestion to switch to the single 200/50 pill. I was taking two 100/25 and my basic chemistry knowledge told me a single large pill would dissolve slower than two smaller ones (surface area controls reaction rate and finer/smaller particles (pills) have a larger surface area than big ones) but I wasn't expecting the effect to be so noticeable so other possibilities are maybe it's the pregabalin, or maybe the Sinemet is just "better" somehow.
Honestly, pregabalin is definitely improving my sleep; they have me on 25mg before bed, and no side effects that I've noticed. I'm aware with that last one that everyone is different - but give it a go! Just let someone you care know if it makes you feel a bit down initially.
Nigel, are you by chance a professional dj?
Thanks Nigel, looks like I'm giving it a try then !.......😜
I take 12 senimet tablets a day and I've never tried the other brands this is what my dr prescribed and the insurance covers it
