What Are Your Passions?
A friend just told me what he thought my passions seem to be. That got me thinking. Passions are important to us People with PD because they take our focus off PD, demoting it to the importance of a minor irritation. When we put our focus on our Passions instead, we have a lot more Joy in our lives.
Before my husband died he was my passion & hunting, target shooting, eating wild game & fish, 4-wheeling, boating, camping (my Favorite was the 2 weeks of bowhunting camp each fall) & jet skiing with him. I am sad all that is gone.
But I still have my passions: Classical music, writing musical arrangements, writing (words), swimming (especially in hot springs), downhill skiing, horses, animals in general, doing things in the mountains & forests, the Beartooth Highway, Yellowstone Park, the town in the Rocky Mountain west where my mom lives, sunrises & sunsets, rainbows, snow, healthy foods, mineral water, herbs (especially Osha & Gingko), wine & other alcoholic beverages, the Royal Canadian Air Force exercises (12 minutes a day); my family, teaching, eating in restaurants, church, calling & texting a man in another Rocky Mountain state, & talking to Mom daily.
Tibe, eating is by far my favorite past time!
My goodness Mountainwoman, you have some awesome passions! Mine are few and quite subdued compared to yours. Mine are reading the Bible (I joined a Bible study last fall and completely read it cover to cover in about 4 mos. Started over again and reading much slower this time am more than halfway through it this time. I want to learn God's word so I can share it and bring people to Jesus and insure they receive Him and life ever after!) Started reading Karen Kingsbury books, a wonderful Christian author and have read 38 of her books since November or December last yr. Self discovery at the age of 72 after living with anxiety and depression the majority of my life and now being free of it! And developing stronger relationships with my 10 and 11 y o grandsons here in town, playing games, talking about God, going to church, and sleepovers and spending time with my daughter and son in law which is very limited as she runs her own business as a lactation consultant and right now the boys have soccer practice two nights a week, baseball practice two nights a week and soccer games every Saturday. I have also developed many new friendships this past yr through the senior citizens dinners at church, Bible study, a new next door neighbor, and 12 women who meet once a month to play Bunco ranging in ages of 70-94, also attending senior luncheons once a month at the Baptist church. In the meantime I have PT twice a week and many appts throughout the months for various medical concerns. God is good!

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member - God Is good! I am impressed that you completely read the Bible cover to cover in about 4 mos last fall & are more than halfway through it reading much slower a second time. My husband & I joined a Bible study but we mostly read little pamphlets. My mother-in-law used that group as a way to publicly criticise me, sometimes changing what the pamphlet said & even pointing her finger at me. The leader canceled the group. It is such a wonderful goal that you are learning God's word so you can share it and bring people to Jesus and insure they receive Him and life ever after. I hadn't heard of Karen Kingsbury. 38 books in 10 months plus the bible is a lot of good reading. I used to read a lot, but now I do active things more & just read & write on the internet. I am 71. It is never too late for self discovery. I am so glad you are free of the anxiety and depression. I would love to run my own business as a lactation consultant. Perhaps I should get to know your daughter! I haven't heard of Bunco but I've always enjoyed Yatzee. The best part of your reply is that PD is not a passion but just part of "various medical concerns". Way to go!
