Spouse 7th Year Of Parkinsons Starting Delusions What If Any Meds Could Be Added Only Takes 100/200 Carbo Dopa Stimment
Four changes in my wife's medication made a huge difference in the hallucinations and delusions that my wife was suffering from. #1: taking quetiapine (Seroquel), as Jelsesr pointed out. This was probably the single most effective change--especially for the delusions. #2: eliminating amantadine. This also significantly reduced the hallucinations. #3: eliminating tramadol, which she was taking for pain. This removed the last of the consistent hallucination issues. #4: taking memantine. I think this has also helped to keep her more grounded. Hallucinations do pop up occasionally (not often), but she is able to see/accept that they are hallucinations, and they are not disturbing, which they had become before these medication changes. I sincerely hope that you spouse can get relief from the delusions. They were the most difficult part of the Parkinson's experience, so far, for both of us.
