Should I take levodopa if I do not have motor symptoms such as tremors?

Try it and see if it helps with your other symptoms. It can help with things like balance and gait and bradykinesia. Lack of dopamine affects so many different systems. The c/l replaces some of the dopamine your brain is no longer producing.

Hello WiltonHiener2, I’m taking C/L and it helps me with my balance issues. I don’t have tremors just balance/gait issues. I would recommend you try it and see if it helps you. If you have any concerns about C/L, talk with your doctor.

Hi @WiltonHiener2 welcome to lovely lovely live again land, the coveted resort on the edge of paradise. An idyllic haven where you will find the oasis to be real, people smile, the sun always shines and the music never ends. A safe space where folks can freely express their complex feelings and emotions about the impact Mr Poo Poo Parky has had on their lives without fear of retribution from those who have no understanding about the ugly monster. Look forward to getting acquainted.
Oh the meds was your question. If it were me I would hold off in favour of a nice brandy, still what do I know I'm not a doctor. Speak to your GP. 🙂🙂🙂

Key Points:
- Mechanism:
- Levodopa: Precursor to the neurotransmitter Dopamine, increases Dopamine concentration in the brain.

- Not suitable for people with undiagnosed skin lesions, narrow-angle glaucoma, or a history of melanoma.
- Caution is advised for those with wide-angle glaucoma, diabetes, asthma, emphysema, mental illness, or problems with the heart, kidneys, liver, lungs, or blood vessels.
- May not be appropriate for pregnant or breastfeeding women.

- Administration:
- Available as tablets, disintegrating tablets, or as an infusion.
- Avoid taking iron supplements or a diet high in protein or fat as they can interfere with absorption.
- Regular monitoring of liver, kidney, and heart function is necessary.
- Examine skin regularly for changes and visit a dermatologist to check for signs of melanoma.
- If you have wide-angle glaucoma, regular monitoring of intraocular pressure is required.

- Side Effects:
- Common side effects include nausea and vomiting.
- Withdrawal symptoms may occur if the medication is stopped suddenly; a gradual decrease in dosage is recommended.

- Precautions:
- Avoid driving or operating machinery until you understand how the medication affects you.
- Do not begin taking [[treatment:Levodopa/Carbidopa:55d534f51fcaa397470006dd]] within two weeks of taking a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor.
