Why Doesn't The Medical Field Know More About Parkinson's In General

A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

I was rushed to the hospital for what appeared to be a stroke. My husband was the one to figure out it was my Parkinson's. Him and 1 lone paramedic. Don't get me wrong, a stroke is Serious!!! KNOW the SIGNS !!! However the level of knowledge in the medical field is sadly lacking. From the importance of medication timing and or medication available. We don't all have a masked face, we don't all have a pronounced tremor, we are all not older men.

There needs to be real-time education of local hospitals and doctors. I'll even volunteer šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø
to start! The medical community needs to have some knowledge beyond, I know Michael J. Fox has it doesn't he??. ( God bless him for all his work) . We need a basic understanding especially in a hospital setting. We could also use a little public information. That can also help with diagnosis. Had i seen a commercial that said Parkinson's isn't only the tremor you saw on your mother's uncle. It's not just a tremor!

But not quite the same disease, although researchers are saying they are more alike than previously thought; nevertheless they are two very different diseases. Autonomic Failure is no laughing matter no matter how much one enjoys laughing. That being said, Iā€™m going home next week.

Well I already have the Dr. Quack degree soā€¦I was originally diagnosed with PD but it was changed to MSA-C. That changed my life. If you look up TeresaBaker2, that has my story from way back. I couldnā€™t get into my account so this is a new one. You might learn some things from my real life experiences. @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member seems to have a library of information. He is on this site. He has an amazing amount of good information easily accessible. And any questions you have just ask.
