I agree with you on the wider range of responses...a 💡 for "great idea", and a 📚 for "interesting research".
Some sites have "+1's" that other uses can give to posts that have been valuable or helpful to them. These mount up so that over time newer users can start to see which people others have found most helpful...might be an idea here?
I wish they had another response other than like or hug on here. Something like interested or interesting
My neurologist recommended doing one side at a time to determine effectiveness.
If one side was successful, we would consider doing the other side 9-12 months later. I followed his recommendation. One side was done 04/2015, the other side was done 06/2016. Both surgeries were successful with positive results.
The only thing that I have changed, looking back to the surgeries, would have been to go with rechargeable batteries. My batteries lasted only 2-3 years, each side was replaced twice before converting to rechargeable batteries.
I don't know for sure but that was what he was proposing in some of his earlier writings so I looked it up. It is unfortunate that even doing a small trial seems to be almost prohibitively expensive. The wikipedia on this medication is fairly interesting and detailed.

There has been some research on this with relation to dyskenesia and dystonia and extracellular dopamine but that trial was with rats.

I emailed the doctor in 2022 to ask about when the clinical trials might begin. He wrote back saying that funding was needed but to me it seems like he is geniune in his hope to help.
