My husband has issues urinating when sleeping at night. We now have an agreement that if he wakes after 3am, he goes to his lift recliner chair to sleep the rest of the night so I can get some sleep. What amazes me is when he reclines and falls asleep he sleeps like a baby and rarely has to get up to urinate. A friend who is her husband’s caregiver told me his doctor suggested they lift the top of their bed to a slanted position so he is reclined. She said he rarely has an issue with urinating while sleeping. Might be worth a try. She said 2 bricks on each top leg should do it.

I have Parkinson's and prostate problems. I take Myrbetriq and that seems to control the worst of the nighttime problems. But a side effect is I'm still peeing when I can no longer feel the pee moving.. So I wait to be sure I'm done before zipping up.

It’s reassuring to know I’m not the only one leaking with every step. My gynecologist had me try two different medications for overactive bladder. The results were laughable.

My husband had problems with urination. He would think he had to go, but then there was nothing, or he would not feel anything even though his bladder was full. Eventually we found that his bladder had quit working properly after a thorough examination with his Urologist doctor. In his case he had to have a catheter inserted directly into the bladder. It seemed horrendous at first, but he adjusted and also had less bladder infections now that urine could get out. He had a night bag and a day bag for his leg. So, no one knew about his situation. I was so lucky that he was a sweet, easy-going man and just accepted each phase of his Parkinson's Disease. We also found that D-Mannose (over the counter), helps reduce the incidence of bladder infections. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR first, but if he/she is ok with it, you will have LESS bladder infections. That also helped me not have them. He didn't have problems with pooping, other than constipation.
