I Have A Hard Time Parking In A Designated Spot. I Can't Seem To Judge The Actual Parking Space. I Park Too Close To The Lines.
I'm in the 4th year but still early stage of PD. When highway driving I notice my warning signal for being too close to the left of right of my lane is going off more frequently. I think I should consider giving up my license. Would you agree? I'm 80 years old. Also parking can be a challenge unless I have lots of room.
Giving up your freedom is a very personal thing. I gave up my license on my own initiative, because I felt I was a hazard. In my case it was easy. I found myself on the wrong side of a median strip driving into traffic.
We all have to be able to make our own assessment. When we do we have to think about what could happen to others as a result of our actions. It’s important to do an honest assessment.
Thanks to all of you for your constructive feedback. My plan was to stop driving this year, but I've been putting it off. I wanted to be the one to decide and not put that burden on my kids. They are letting me decide the appropriate time and are not pushing me. I always taught them when they got their licenses that a driver's license is a privilege, and that the car is a dangerous weapon. Now it's my turn to follow the same rules for the same reasons. Thanks again.
When making this decision remember you are not just making it for you but for everyone on the road with you. I are controlling a heavy and powerful device capable of changing your and other lives forever. This realization made making this decision hard but the thought of hurting or killing someone because of my ego or stubbornness is totally unacceptable to me. I don't want to wait for something to happen. I have control over this decision and I have survived many tougher decisions in my life. This one will help make others safer, whether they know it or not. I know this action was the only choice. It's not right to put this burden on my daughter or create hurt feelings only doing what is best for everyone.
Big girl panty time for me I'm afraid.

My wife cut me off of driving oh well! On less driver to worry about.
I have a hard time parking, but part of that is that I drive two vehicles that are very different in size and turning radius.
My husband was having trouble staying in his lane when he was driving. His reaction time slowed down when cars or people would suddenly appear and his sense of appropriate speed was off. After a year or more of me nagging him to move over, speed up, watch out, etc. He agreed to let me drive. He retains his license, but only drives if we need to drop a vehicle off at the shop. After two years of not driving, he doesn't enjoy it when he does. I'm actually a bit concerned because I am due for a colonoscopy this summer and he will need to drive me home afterwards. I don't think they'll let me take a bus home.
