Can You Still Write?

A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭
Mesa, AZ

Of course I know that everyone's Parkinson's is different. But out of curiosity I would like to know how many of us have lost the ability to write or to draw.

I myself have been unable to sign my name for over 10 years. I'm unable to draw a line or a circle, even using a ruler or a stencil. If I use both hands and write very slowly I can write half a dozen shaky words before my hands loose total control.

Please let me know if you can still write. This is just a curiosity thing, indulge me.

I can still write but it depends on the time of day and my medication level in my blood. One minute my writing is easy to read and the next hour it is tiny and almost impossible to read, I am thankful for computers and talk to text. I can no longer cut straight with scissors though.

My walking partner has a love of birds and points out when the birds are singing or the wood peckers are busy pecking. I probably wouldn't notice if she didn't point them out. I can't see them, because my eyes are impacted by the PD. I have prism's in my lensesss... and my left eye is usually closed. Tjhe doctor suggested I might consider getting botoin my eye lid. ans YEs, my hand writing is unreadable. My husband has taken over writig in all of the birthday cards With 10 children plus spouses and 27 grand children, that is a lot for him to assume. When I attemt to take phonnne messages I can't read what I have written or printed and I trannspose phone numbers all the time I find using a stylus is imensley helpful when I am typing.
