We Have A 2 Story House With Lots Of Steps..should We Move To A Single Story Home? My Husband Is 1 Year Into Diagnosis..
I would suggest in a stair lift for the future.
Possibly your local Area Agency on Aging. I've used their services for home modifications for my husband who had PD. The may still have a program to help you.
Is there some resource that can help us afford one?
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member - That is a question a lot of us have had to deal with. My husband and I have looked for a single story house in our area for the past 2 years, but can't find anything we can afford that we like. ATM, I'm considering just making adaptations to our current house if it becomes necessary instead. So far it hasn't become essential. Jim can still go up and down the stairs without falling, and I think it is good for his leg strength.
One concern I have is that we could move, and then a year later find ourselves in a situation where Jim needs more care than I can give him, so we'd have to move again. He is 84, so it is a possibility, though his Parkinson's is progressing fairly slowly.
How Many Of You Have Moved Into Other Settings Since Mobility Has Affected Walking And Balance?
